Dry Hopping

Thu Jan 21, 2010 2:41 am

What do most homebrewers do with their dry hops?
Do you just throw them in?
Put them in a hop bag?
Do you sterilise the hop bag?

I have been adding the hops into a coffee cup and adding some hot water from the kettle.
Then it is straight into the fermenter.

I am hoping to make Jamils Hop Hammer and want to make sure I don't end up with a fermenter of hops that
are going to clog all my taps and hoses.

I dry hop with pellets and I usually just throw them in dry. I haven't ever had a problem with any type of infection and they usually fall to the bottom in a couple days or if they do linger at the top, you will just rack off below them. I haven't ever had any type of clogging and I use an autosipon with 3/8 ID diameter hosing.
