Help with my water report

Sat May 30, 2009 11:14 am

Hi all,

I've got a copy of my local water report, but I don't seem to be able to find and reference to Alkalinity or Bicarbonate on it...

I'm wondering if you guys could take a look for me and check i'm not missing anything. The report seems to have EVERYTHING else!

I can see Total Hardness, expressed as "mg Ca/l", but I'm sure this isn't what I'm looking for.

You can see the report here...

you have to click the "Save file to your PC: click here" link at the bottom.

Thanks! :jnj

That is an impressive water report, man all sorts of info in that sucker. I just get a retarded list of about 10 things essentially telling me 'it won't kill ya' with my water report. That's the one though, for hardness. Now if you stick that number (say 21) into ProMash, it seems to do the head-slapping math and figures out what the hell it all means.
Good luck!

Well if it's there I certainly can't find it. The best we can do in these cases is WAG it by seeing how much alkalinity it would take to electrically balance the other ions you do have reported. The real problem in this particular case is that the report represents averages over a year. Complete reports from a single sample do balance. Averages do not. With these caveats in mind you alkalinity is around 0.22 mval (milliequivalents per liter) or 13 ppm as CaCO3.
