Definitely IPA season. Just for moral support, I doubt you will have any contamination problem. With all that blowing out not much can get in, plus all those hops. Besides IPA's get drank quick, so no time for any bacteria to develop much off flavors.

I have a couple of other batches lined up and then I need to get some IPA in the can...

YOUR BATCH IS RUINED!!!

send the entire finished beer to the RaT PaD for disposal

BigNastyBrew wrote:I'm supposed to bitter with 14.4% Magnum for an hour, right? Well, I bittered with 8% Centennial instead. I went to add my "10 minute Centennials" and there are my Magnums....DAMMIT!!!

Fortunately, my pack of centennials happened to be 2oz instead of 1 oz. So, I added the Magnums and centennials at 10 minutes. I still ended up with 63 IBU, but now I'm just not sure how the flavor profile is going to be since I used magnums as an aroma/flavoring hop.

Anyone have any experience using the Magnum hops as a flavor/aroma?

I think Magnum is one of the 2 flavor/aroma hops used in Sierra Nevada Torpedo. Along with Citra, which I've never heard of being used in any other beer.

just as a heads up, this hop combo in the right amounts makes a really good clone of stone's ruination double IPA. just do some googleing and you will find what im talking about.
Cheers!

Thanks for the tip. I'll look it up. Probably won't be doing a DIPA anytime real soon. Maybe this fall.

I've made that same mistake before, as I'm sure a lot of us have in the past (mixing up hop additions). Every time I've mixed up my hops the beers haven't seemed to have suffered too much, and from looking at what you've done, I'm sure you'll still love the beer when it's all said and done... you could always dry hop an ounce or so of the Centennial if you're afraid of missing out on that flavor profile
