Check your seals. I've got two kegs, and one the QD's go on and off just fine, the other are REALLY tough. I found yesterday that one of the seals on the difficult keg appears to be larger (doesn't fit as snug around the post) than the other keg. I tried swapping the seals from the good keg to the bad one, and the problem immediately went away. I'm ordering new seals today.

I found lubing the post o-rings with just a tiny bit of keg lube solved the problem here. I found pulling the ring off, lubing it, then replacing it works better than trying to lube them in place.

To answer your immediate question. Pull up the outer ring with one hand and pry gently with a screwdriver or something similar.

You also need to check that you have the posts on the correct sides of the keg. The gas post will have either a 12 pointed base or a six sided base with a small groove filed in the middle of each point. The liquid posts will always be six sided with no groove. If you stick the quick connect onto the wrong post, you will end up stuck like you are now.

One way to to remember what goes where is to remember:

Grey = Groove = Gas
Black = Blank = Beer

As long as you keep the B's and G's grouped together you will avoid most problems wth sticking connectors.

The liquid QD will also have a just slightly thicker "ring" around the middle of the connect.
