How long is your shank?

Fri Aug 10, 2007 7:28 am

I am adding a tap to the kegerator, what size shank do I need? Should I get the 3inch or the 4 inch? This is going on a standard fridge.

Sorry but I have to do it....

It all depends on how to use them.. If you have a 7-9" SHANK, then you don't have to do much. If it's 3-4 inches, then it may take some skills. Like they say, it ain't how long it is, it's how you work it!

...end of stupid joke.

you might want to do something crazy like measure it?!
add an inch or two so that you can change your mind.
a little bigger isn't a bad thing in most cases.

Are you measuring from the back of the nut?

j/k 4" is what's in my fridge and it's plenty.

Mine are also 4". It's cool because I can get a better grip on things when I take everything apart to clean it. Other than that I'd say just check to make sure that you'll have enough room inside the fridge once the door is closed. It could happen that they hit the kegs.

Thanks for all the help. I was at work and was going to the LHBS right after work and I was unable to measure. I ended up getting the 4 inch shank, figure it should work and besides its all about my happiness right?
