Begging for some help or info on kegerators

Fri Jan 26, 2007 2:39 am

Im in the UK and have just upgraded our old fridge/freezer for a nice new shiny one. This means I get the old one for the kegs.

Problems are that kegs will not fit in the fridge or the freezer compartment
So I was planning on joining the freezer and fridge section together

So that the kegs will fit in there nicely and I can make use of it.

If I get a love temp controller would it be best to wire it to the freezer for cooling and disconnect the fridge mechanism or the other way around?
Have not looked at how to do this yet.

Or am i making loads of work and its easier (more sensible!), to dump the old fridge/freezer and get a chest freezer and save loads of work?
If any one knows of any info or sites on doing what I need to do it would be nice to have an idea what to do before I start?
I think i remember some one bending up a freezer plate to do the kegerator cos it got in the way, (which i will have to do) but cant find it now.

The irony is the new one could fit kegs in the fridge and the freezer section but I have been told it's for food

Sorry about all the questions just want to do it right and get the kegs setup asap.

Depending on the age of the old fridge, you may find that a new chest freezer would even cost you less money since they're generally considerably more energy efficient. If the option was put before me, I'd take the new chest freezer.
