What a cool idea - does it work for stainless, though?


I know of a kettle maker here in AZ (BruGear) that attests that his pots do work. They are tri-clad bottoms. I think you only need a certain percentage of ferrous metal to make these work. I'm busy helping my buddy set up his new electric brewery. We'll be able to test the pot and burner next week.

I tried out induction too. I can say that the stainless pots I tried worked fine. I don't know where one came from, but the other is from homebrewing.org (the 9 gallon, 1 port pot). I did some comparisons between cast iron and those stainless pots and I got the same times for boiling water from 50F.
