Faucet starts jamming.

Tue Aug 26, 2014 5:07 pm

Sad to say I am not able to drink from my kegerator everyday. When life really sucks I can only use it once a week. I had one faucet rust or corrode so it would not open. Now my replacement faucet is getting sticky after several days of lack of use. Any suggestions out there on keeping my faucet working properly when not in constant use? Unfortunatley drinking more might cost me my marriage so thats not an option. Thanks!!!!! Scott

Installing a forward sealing faucet will solve this problem. Ventmatic and Perliks are the only two brands I know. I've used both and prefer Ventmatic.

I've had two different Perlick 525 SS faucet leak unless you keep the pressure above 15psi. Perlick customer service told me this is normal, and industry kegs don't stay on tap long enough to over carb.

That works great too. i used to have a squirt bottle of sanitizer next to my faucet, id shoot up there and then put a tap cover over the faucet.

+1 to all above

My Perlicks never leak under 15psi though. And even with a forward seal, it's still a good idea to give them a spritz of sani.

I have Perlick 525SS and use these:

They're called Kleen-Plugs. After using the tap for the day, I'll spray star san up the faucet and put this in to keep stuff out.
