Banjo burner issues

Mon Apr 15, 2013 12:39 pm

I just finished my brutus set up and believe I am having issues with my burners. I have 14 inch banjos and it is taking me about an 45 minutes to get to a boil with a 5 gallon batch. Not only is it taking longer than anticipated I think I'm going through a ton of propane, new tank today and picked it up and feel like its half empty. I have the burners about 5-6 inches below the bottom of the keggles, should I raise them to be closer to the keggles? How big should my flame tips be? They look a bit small but are putting out a good amount of heat.

Regulator setting (PSI, usually fixed setting)?

Do you smell rotten eggs when brewing? :)

5-6" is a bit too far away, IMO. I would've aimed closer to 3" personally. That may or may not be causing the issue; there could be other factors.
