Yeah, I'm with you. That's always been my interpretation, and listening to the old Jamil Shows just reinforces that opinion, as he always includes "use white labs/wyeast whatever or a properly rehydrated dried yeast".

It's just driving me nuts because I remember a specific, extended discussion, but can't remember where (for the reasons you mention; it's come up enough that it doesn't even get included in show descriptions). And, after 5 years, uh. yeah. I thought maybe someone reading this had recently done the BN archive blitz.

You listened to the 11/20/05 show? I feel like with it being one of the first with JZ on it that it would have come up... That's my best guess just from looking at show descriptions....

JZ has talked about this a few times. I seem to remember a conversation about dry yeast in one of the early Jamil shows like Robust Porter, perhaps.

I definately recommend listening to the Shea Comfort show with pen and paper in hand for notes. The info from Shea was pretty mindblowing.
