Tasty's first appearance on the session?

Tue Aug 16, 2011 7:18 am

I'm a fairly new listener, and have been devouring both the archives from the beginning and going back from current shows. I was just wondering if anyone knew which was Tasty's first show? In the archives, they talk about this great brewer Mike McDole, but that he was not that into coming on the show. And of course I have heard Tasty from the recent shows where he is such an integral part.

Strange dichotomy between the two and though I am sure to come across it as I work my way through the archives, I would like to listen to the first one to see the change.

Thanks,

I am pretty sure that I listened to the first show with him last week sometime. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was February of 2007. I am pretty sure that Jamil was also on that show, if that helps in the search.

Maybe a little history is on order. About 6 years ago this well spoken guy came to my homebrew club (DOZE) meeting talking about how he wanted to start an internet radio show about homebrewing. Never being one to want to speak in front of a large group of people, let alone have it recorded, I decided it wasn't going to be for me. That wasn't the case with Doc, JP, and Chicken Boy. A couple years went by during which the BN was just barely on my radar. Doc would beg me to come on the show but I would always refuse. Then I was at our homebrewers festival here in northern California and I met Chad. Chad and I shared some common interests and started hanging out which included coming over to the studio during the show. I'd almost always bring homebrew and Justin would often describe it as "tasty". Occasionally a homebrewing question would come up and they would ask me to come up to a microphone to answer it. That went on for several months until they convinced me to sit at a microphone for at least a portion of the show. Like anything that's new, after a period of time I got more comfortable being on the shows. I rarely go back and listen to a show so I couldn't say when I was first heard or when I was first at a microphone when a show came on.

Tasty
yep, yep, yep, yep

I believe Tasty was the first "official" brewcaster outside of the original guys, right?

Thank God for Chad and your common interests. I can't imagine the Brewing Network without Tasty Juicy! :jnj

It was the first show of 2007. I listened to it this weekend while doing some mowing.

It was also the debut of the gay prince from Bavaria and the announcement of the return of Butterhole.
