Keeping the grain reasonably cool is a good thing to do if you are in a hot area. If you have a basement or other cool place, that is better than leaving it in the hot garage. If storing it cool, you'll want to keep it sealed so moisture (condensation) doesn't build up, either.

Moisture is the killer and heat is the get away driver.

I've had some buckets without rubber seals in the lid & the grain definitely stales faster.

What kind of life expectancy should i expect from the grain? If I buy 50# I should go through it withing 2 months. Will the heat kill it by then?

You'll be fine, as long as it's not super hot & you keep it dry. At cellar temps you can get a good year plus out of it before it starts becoming noticeably stale on you.

I've had friends tell me warm and humid is a sure fire way to get grain weevils. I've never seen myself though.
