Yeast cake question Edinburgh Scottich Ale

Fri Mar 28, 2008 5:52 pm

I have a yeast cake from a Scottish so low hop and I get very little break material in the fermenter.

I am brewing in the morning and do not have a starter going so I am considering taking a 1/4 or so of the yeast cake, washing it in a little sterile water, and pitching it in a Brown Ale. I racked the beer off this cake 4 or 5 days ago. I left a 1/2 inch of beer on top of the cake and left the lid and airlock on it. Anyone think it would be a problem to wash and reuse this yeast at this point? Is 5 days too much time to let it sit?

It is the WLP028 Edinburgh Scottish Ale Yeast by the way.

Should be fine. I've done the exact same thing and it turned out great.
