Is it possible there was something in the oak? I know some will steam the cubes before putting them in beer.

Either way, it is scary looking.

Yeah, I know the bucket is dunzo. That beer is actually still sitting in there and will be for quite a few months.

I don't think there was anything in the oak. The bottles I pulled off for comp were clean and won 1st for English pale. It had to be an airborne infection when I opened it up.

But like I said, now I'm going for the elusive blue ribbon for the same beer in two categories.

Umm... did you look at the picture? I don't think any of us are questioning his 'sanitation practices'. No question about it, that bucket's done for.
