Pineapple mead

Sun May 05, 2013 7:21 am

Anyone tried a pineapple mead yet? I started one yesterday, 15lbs honey, water topped up to 5g, then added 12 lbs frozen organic pineapple chunks. Used a little pectic enzyme along with the usual SNA cocktail. Thoughts?

I hope it's not too sour. If not, it sounds like it could be delicious. I started my first mead yesterday with 16lb of honey, yeast nutrient, and yeast energizer.

Pineapple mead can be delicious if you build a balanced beverage. Think about finding a perfectly ripe, fresh golden pineapple to add in secondary aging (puree in a food processor and freeze to breakdown fruit). Chuck it in after the mass thaws

My wifey loves passionfruit version more. Either way if you get this one right it is a panty dropper.
