Hi all...
this Sunday's Daniela's World - Wigoroulsy brings you two Halloween-Pumpkin-Beer-Food recipes, one is on the sweeter side, the other just plain meaty...
Halloween Pumpkin Beer Chilli:
1 pound lean ground beef
1 small onion
1 red bell pepper, 1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 cans diced tomatoes (14.5oz each)
2 cans black beans, rinsed
1 can pure pumpkin (if you like to make it yourself, more power to you)
6 oz beer, ideally pumpkin ale...pilsner works fine too though
1 tablespoon chilli powder
1 tablespoon cinnamon
05. teaspoon nutmeg
pinch of brown sugar
salt and pepper

Brown the beef, add onion and bell peppers, coof for about 5 minutes, add tomatoes and juices, beans, pumpkin, BEER and spices. Bring to a boil and then let simmer for about one hour.

Pumpkin soup with Rauchbier (or dark beer)
2 small onions, diced
1.2 oz butter
15 oz pumpkin meat
2 tablespoons vinegar
4.5 cups beef broth
salt and pepper as you please
a little bit of sugar
1 bottle of Rauchbier (pilsner could substitute)
0.5 cup of cream

Caramelize onions in butter, add pumpkin meat (diced), vinegar, beef broth, and let simmer till soft. Puree the soup. Add the beer, heat up (no boiling!) and add the cream.

Prost
Daniela

Is it a bad idea to tell Daniela that her recipe is for bean stew and not chilli? On my second post? Without posting a recipe for what I think is true chilli?

Seriously though, I eat more bean stew than chilli myself, so I'm going to try this recipe out after I pick up a bottle of Pumpkin Ale on the way home....oh and chilli recipe to follow ;)
