When I was In Osaka staying with a college friend and his family, it seemed like we had bacon all the time. It was definetly alot thinner and had a slightly different taste, but I figured it was how it was brined. Maybe I am wrong though.

This is one of the many reasons I love my in-laws. Every other year we raise and butcher, and package our own pork. Her grandparents are old school Czech so the day is spent drinking beer, schlichovich (some crazy Czech liqueur), and making crazy Czech sausages.

Now I need bacon, katsu curry and a bowl of ramen. Unfortunately, only bacon is available here. Could be worse I guess...

This is not the ramen of which I speak. Japanese ramen is happiness in a bowl. It is like bud light and good beer: There *might* be a time and a place for each, but they are not comparable, even if both are called beer. Plus, they generally leave the :nutters: out of Japanese Ramen and in its stead use :unicornrainbow: and pork broth, at least it tastes like it.

+1 for that ne AdamK. I gorged myself on Ramen in Japan. The only place I can find on par ramen in Washington is a place in Seattle called Samurai Noodles. Homemade noodles and pork broth... Now I need to make a trip to Seattle!

I was joking for the record. Never had Japanese Ramen but I don't pass up a chance for a good bowl of Vietnamese pho whenever possible.
