No, I got your point Zym, and I will try to restate mine, I don't care if A-B pressures them to serve their attempt at craft beer. It is at least moving from their light lagers they produce now and gets a new taste into that consumers palate. In the end, they may not create a lot more "true" craft drinkers but they will create some, and to me that is a good thing. Do I hate the BMC companies for what they do, a little. Will they drive the craft beer market away, I doubt it. If anything the craft beer market is forcing their hand to create craft type beer. That is a positive move regardless.

Soooo, either way, BMC craft beer or true craft beer, I think it is a win for the community. Besides, it looks like they consulted with the Brewers Association so it will more than likely be true craft beer, so we are debating over a moot point.

Sorry,

I didn't mean to piss in anyone's cereal there. I will just say this about big business...My mom always used to say....."If people would quit paying 4.00 a box for fruit loops they would be forced to drop the price and I would buy you kids a box or two!"

I relate that quoute to our conversation here in that BMC are not seeing much growth over the last few years. Yet the micro and import sections are seeing record growth. The bubble may burst, but I think the American public is having a movement back to hand crafted products. I think on a very small scale right now Americans are getting real sick of the Walmart attitude of only price matters. Bottled wine sales are booming every year and they continue to grow. Why would bottled wine sales continue to grow if everyone was content just drinking boxed wine or Boones Farm wino wine. Because, well I hope that Americans are getting tired of the wine is wine, beer is beer, coffee is coffee attitude that was so prevelant not too long ago. Look at how much coffee sales are booming. Ten years ago you could barely find an espresso shop in Lincoln, Ne. Now there is one on almost every corner. I believe, and truly hope that beer is doing the same thing.

I also believe that if BMC did not have the same outlook as what I am saying in this post then they would still be poo pooing the whole idea of craft beer in general. Instead they are buying up regional breweries and also making their own interpretations of craft beer. I even read on a table tent for the AB stout that AB consulted with Guiness for thier recipe. I doubt they took many of Guiness' ideas and put them to practice, but it sure is good marketing if you can add Guiness' name to your product somewhere.

Anyway...enough soapbox preaching for now.

Peace out.

Good Luck & Good Night.

They have about 30 Belgian beers in bottle, most with the correct glassware to boot. About another 20 beers can be found on tap as well, only about 25% being Macros.

So if they are following this model then I'd sayt it's a good thing.

i know this an older thread, but i just wanted to offer some update: the lax sheraton did have a decent selection last time i was there. they even offered beer recommendations for some of their menu items. i had some sierra nevada porter with my german sausages. i would've tried more but i was eating with my ex and didn't want it to get sloppy. also give me a shout if you are in the los angeles area.

Don't forget... the guy who is selecting the beers for the Sheratons has been on the Sunday Session! Same guy who runs Draft Magazine.
