Ah, that bring back memories of my first encounter with homebrew. A college buddy of mine brewed and bottled a batch he called "Thermonuclear Ale". Once it was bottled and carbonated he brought a couple six-packs by. We chilled them and poured them, getting a pint each and appreciating the roasty copper color, the fine, foamy head, and ample carbonation.
The taste, on the other hand was "vinegary cat box". Thin body. Probably the most wretched thing I'd ever voluntarily put in my mouth. A runner up would be "drinking from the boot", a defenseman's aged cleat at a post-game party when we played Sac State in 1991.
Fortunately for my buddy, he was a business major, not a biologist. His sterile technique probably left something to be desired.
