Last nights show

Im sure all of you heard my comments but I felt a little held back, being new here and with an intention not to offend but to understand.

I will stick to the politician comment though.

As a brewer of ten years I have always tried to push the boudries but never have been egotistical enough to "not" relate my brew to others and embrace all the knowledge that came before us, that makes us the brewers we are.

What I saw can be related to a musician"which I am, so it make sense to me" try to be origional and cast off all styles which make ones skills what they are. We all want to be origional, and some of use feel offended in the comparing ourselves to others. Yet the simularities can not be denied, hence "J's" comments on what Mr Hunts brews tasted like.

It could be argued that the creation of the orgional styles that most of us replicate have to start somewhere. It is my opinion that its all been done, much like music. Whether this be commercially available or by the average schmoe. I hiss at Mr Hunts replacment of style for name because the average consumer knows nothing of brewing guidlines, which all should know are nothing more than boudries to judge. I would have felt much better with an approach admiting style, but omiting boundries. Which in essence is what Mr Hunt was doing. Much like a politician he danced around this and left most of us with a sour taste. All I saw was a selling angle, a commercial, a hook, which was further enforced by his lack of care, and that his beer include a plane ticket. I relate to this man for my ego stretches far beyond my physical and creative means. Never do I deny influence and make what is creative into a maketing statement. He said he pays his bills with this endevor, but its my experience that most brewrys of his size start for the love and not for the glory. Im not trying to deny this man a buck(being small business myself, 500k this year) but honesty is what it is. I make solid surface countertops I was thinking of calling them polymer based gravity controlers.

I thought you did well. I like the debates as long as they don't end up like the talking heads on tv. Welcome to the forum.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.

Hi Heath,

I wanted to be the first to thank you for your call last night, so I'm really glad you posted about it here. First is that it isn't easy to call a show and differ with the guest over the air. But from the looks of the chatroom last night, you weren't the only one who wanted to do it, just the only one that did. I think I speak for most of our listeners, as well as the staff here, when I say thanks for that. You, and all of our listeners, should know that you your opinions, agree or disagree, are welcome here. This is your station and community, so feel free to use it as you wish.

Second, you brought some great points to the show, and it's important that be done. As hosts here, we walk a fine line between presenting opinions of others, and expressing our own simultaneously. I personally try to give honest opinions, but have to remain respectful at the same time.

Brian brought some serious opinions with him. I appreciate that also. It makes for great radio. I don't have to agree with them to see that. But I like some of the things he has to say. I also agree with you, as I tried to express on the show, that everything has a basis. His beers were not without relations to style.

Long story short Heath....nice work on the phone call. We're truly glad to have you and please don't feel that you need to hold back. I'll always support a listeners right to speak his mind, especially when it varies with us or our guests. That's what we're about here.

Prost to you my friend, and all the chatters who chimed in as well. Good show!

Heath,
You were great on the show last night. I appreciate your comments. I totally understand your position as a musician. I too indulge in the 6 stringed arts.
The only issue I have with your hypothisis regarding Mr. Hunt wer the terms, "selling angle, a commercial, a hook". I have had a long discussion with Mr. Hunt in the past in regards his brewing and business philosophy.

We talked at lengths regards the price of a pint or keg in relation to the growing cost of goods and transportation. He gives no thought to raise the cost to customer or proprietor. He bottles nothing, advertises nothing, and pushes nothing. For the general consumer to even get Moonlight anything is a challenge. I think that if really wanted to get over on the consumer he would make his beer more readily available.

Recalling his comment to "J" when he asked Brian if he could get his Homegrown. *%#& off.

If his determination were to "hook" us. He sure is doing a crappy job of it.

On the contrary, simply put. He cares little for the opinion of others. If you like it, fine. If you hate it, fine.

That said, I just want to say I really respected your phone call and your willingness to dispute him where you felt it appropriate. Keep well always.

What that song by blues traveler

"I am being insencere, in fact I dont mean any of this, still my confession draws you near"

I dont care to talk philosophy or theory but I feel Mr. Hunt knows how to gently place things. I would like to try his beer though. I dont imagine it to be less than par.
