HEY EVERYONE!
I think this might be my first post.. i registered quite a while ago.
I love the mp3s... I haven't been able to listen to the live show.. but i will.
A little 411 about me..
i am 25, have been brewing for 1.5 years, went AG in march, and love it.
So far AG I have made:
two very bitter pale ales (5 gal)
one overly dry stout (5 gal)
one HEFE - for fourth of justly - 10 gals-split with buddy)
one Wit -(5 gal)
one rye wit (5 gal)
one. pils/carapils/saaz ale with wlp007 (5 gal)
one "attemped" alt turned porter because of way way too much choc.malt.
One eng. bitter.. target, challenger, EKG(dry hop) (10 gallons)
one ALL PALE/Centennial.. 10 gal split with another brew buddy
.. I think that's about it.
I used Nottingham's for much of my first year, yeast wise, then a bunch of white labs.. an dnow I make starters with the wyeast, when making 10 gallons especially.
I love brewing sucessive batches, and grabbing yeast from the bottom of the bucket , about 2 cups, and storing it in mason jars or zip top baggies, to either cold pitch if less than 2 weeks goes by, or make a starter up to 6 months-ish. and of course.. reusing the remaining yeast cake in the ferm.bucket. -
I made my pale-centennial.. using yeast/ a starter made by adding 3/4 of my day 2 kreusen (scraped off with a sanitized spoon) and a quart of a med. weakish starter (og)
I have posted about 350 times at the NORTHERN BREWER site. I would consider myself a regular there.. but I really enjoy working to your brewcasts.. KEEP IT UP! I will have to send you a bottle of my rye wit/ with a bit of dried ginger.
There are two breweries/brewpubs here in lincoln, one's more mechinized, another has a big pump and a patch-bay of ins and outs for the kettle and MT.. etc. I personally perfer the smaller brewpub, but I also know the brewer and do homebrewing with him...
thanks..
Brendan McGinn PS looking forward to the Irish brewer this weekend!
