Questions for Shaun O'Sullivan

Fri Sep 16, 2005 5:13 pm

OK, the first question of the night should be:

Do the Irish really make the best beer?

How does Shaun determine what beers will sell at the bar?

How much does customer response factor into his recipe formulation?

Are the any recipes that Shaun wants to try that may be "risky" in the business sense?

Watermelon Wheat? WTF? How did his "commercial" recipe come about? How does he make the recipe on the large scale? What tips does he have for homebrewers who want to try adding fruit to their brews?

What yeast and hops does predominately use?

Has he caught any crap from Anchor on his version of a California Common?

Does he have any special seasonal brews?

What is play you IPOD in the loft for five bucks? Stick to the Beer Garden and baseball. :)

What is his yearly capacity and does he distribute to New Jersey? I'll take a case of the Watermalon Wheat.

Out of 290 or so registered members and probably as many lurkers, I can't believe that I'm the only jerkoff that has questions. Here's some more:

With Halloween and Thanksgiving coming up, can you give the homebrewer some tips for making (from scratch) a pumpkin style beer? (like a pumpkin stout)

What is the buzz about the Imperial IPA? Why is it served in a snifter glass? Can you give a homebrewer recipe version? Is your Imperial IPA cask conditioned? Why?

Do you age or condition any of your beers in oak? If he does, what flavors does this impart?

What are your techniques (for homebrewers) for lagering your beers? What temp and how long? Do you use cold storage tanks? What and why do you use them? Are they CO2 pressurized to serving style?

Do you filter your beers? How?

What month is strong beer month and why not run it year round?

Do you serve your own cider? Seasonly?

Does 21st enter beers into the GABF? If so, will you let TBN do a on location segment at their booth?

I listened to your KFOG piece, do you REALLY drink Coors Light? Have you been black listed from the Brewers’ Guild?

Why did the stout "happen" in ireland, historically? I know it has to do with their hard water, but why roasted barley/Ireland/stout?
