Re: Bn club of the year 2012

Wow, congrats to you guys winning again (I say you guys as I've never entered).
Right now I'm in an interesting position. I do have a local club but I never attended a meeting. Their meeting times are when I can't make it. However, I do help them with their yearly competition. So I've never joined. This year, I plan to enter my first competition and pretty much every thing I have learned I've learned from here. So when I enter, I will put down BN as my club (should I be allowed). I think those who helped me be a better home brewer should get the recognition.

Film and VA_BeerGeek, I completely agree with your posts.

Like many others, I started by being gifted a MrBeer kit (Christmas 2010). After trying a couple batches with that, I found a couple sites other than the MrB forum, and worked my way to 5 gal extract and eventually to AG.

There are a couple brew clubs within 45 minutes of me. However, due to career, young kids, home ownership, and so on, I find I rarely have the time to dedicate to club meetings of any kind. Heck if I want to brew, I typically need to get up and start on a weekend morning around 6 so it doesn't eat into the time I do have to get stuff done.

I have gotten 95% of my brewing knowledge from the BN podcasts and forum. I entered a small local comp this Spring and listed the BN as my club. Made no sense to do otherwise. I got 2 silvers (altbier and specialty [rye ipa]) which I never would have achieved w/o the BN.
• considering: first lager
• primary:
• secondary:
• drinking: JBA batch #2
• bottle conditioning: Best Bitter
• recent past: (AG) Rye IPA rebrew; rye saison; BCS Cal Common, Rye IPA, Tasty APA, JZ's Cowboy Altbier

Right on, filmlabrat. That's exactly why the BN is a legitimate club!

It is bad ass that the BN won club of the year. I am in the same position as many: live in rural area (Alabama) and no one else I know homebrews. The awards indicate that there are many in the same position.

It will be fascinating to see how the AHA responds to the haters. If they alienate the BN by coming down with a rule that no longer allows BN entries they might get blow back from a community of douches and ass-hats.

Until then... :aaron

i suggest we form a new club:

Careful Libationists Interested Towards Opening Regional Unified Societies

The acronym is regrettable however.

Way to go BN!

I agree with Filmlabrat.

Colin I always thought that was a hard club to find.
