Getting the BN on Sprint Phones?

Fri Apr 30, 2010 12:59 pm

Hey,

I'm looking at upgrading my brick of a mobile phone. Sure, they all support twitter/facebook/ blahblahblah. I want to be able to listen to the show live on Sunday night while cooking dinner or bbqing, without my child being exposed to the salty language. She's starting to understand what gets said. The wife would be happier too.

Is there a sprint phone that supports the BN live stream? Or one that can play a windows media stream URL? Blackberry? HTC Hero or Evo?

I've heard about the Apple iPhone App, but I'm inherently against an over regulated software(app) market, and it doesn't run on sprint networks.

I'm feeling more like a dinosaur every day.

Thanks,

say what you want about "overly controlled app market" and "not really an open system" or "Apple is the new Microsoft" I have to say that iPhone is the best thing I've had in my pocket ever. okay there have been other things in my pocket that I've liked as well but for this discussion I'm talking about technology. sure, it sucks as a phone. but when have cellphone ever not sucked as phones? if you want reliable phone get a land line... that said, I find myself using the phone part less and less. in fact my total call time for the month of April is 14 minutes. it's all the other stuff that has replaced voice that makes that number so low. things like TXT, facebook, twitter and having email anywhere lessens the need to "call."

there are other things that iPhone brings to the table. podcasts can load directly to the device from wifi or 3g. although you have to update them manually. video can play on it as well. although it's a pain to hold anything in front of you for an hour even if you change hands. I'm finding that I'm reading more books using tools like Kindle and Stanza. and don't forget the games.

if your requirement is the Sprint network it won't work. but friends of mine like their Android powered phones. although oddly, they don't have the same relationship with their phones that I have with mine.

I have an ipod touch and found an app that you can listen to streaming radio. FStream is the one I got but there are better ones out there I'm sure. You are tied to where ever your wireless internet will let you go, but it works great all over my house.

Same here...Verizon Motorola Droid is great. I use a free app called StreamFurious.
