Yes - if you want to see "sexism" you can find it here. 98% of the questions in this forum are from men. Maybe 99%. It's an estimate.
If that bothers you, you may not want to go to the NHC at all and go to the GABF instead if gender balance is an important issue to you. There were not very many women at the NHC when I was there in Oakland.
Besides noting the obvious, is there a bigger point?
There are very few women in brewing and several prominent ones that make interesting radio have been on the shows before.
Some shows include A head brewer from Bend, a hop grower from the University of Colorado, a producer of a independent movie about beer, an organizer of an all female brewing contest and the co-owner of one of my favorite California breweries to name a few that come immediately to mind. They also happened to be female, but their gender is not the point of the show, brewing is.
I would like to hear an interview with Beth Zangari. (edit: post above says that already has happened - I missed that show) Can you name a female in brewing that would make a good show topic that has not been on yet?
The founder of the Brewing Network college major was in broadcasting and gender studies for christ's sake - look at where it got him.
I think the remark about liberals above is that there are so many folks out there just waiting to be offended by someone or something.
If you are offended, there are other place to learn about beer - many of us pretty much screw around with each other here and don't ourselves that seriously - and we give and take pot shots at almost everything and everyone. We also learn a hell of a lot about making beer in the process. If it's not your thing don't waste your energy getting your panties in a wad, just find a different, more comfortable place to learn about beer or troll about why there are so few women in brewing.
p.s. My wife mostly drinks wine and has very little interest in beer, especially craft beer. They may be many more like her. One of the five brewers at out local brewery is female - she studied oenology at Davis and after a few years in winemaking she changed teams and now is a brewer.
