I don't really care all that much one way or the other. Regional style names are fine. Berliner Weisse? Kolsch? California Common? They're all good.

Is "cascadian" a word that would normally describe a person or thing from the pacific northwest? I've never heard the word.

my two cents (east coast perspective) Im from Jersey and i have never even heard of such a concept as cascadia until the zymurgy article. I kinda agree that cascadian dark ale should be the name of the beer however when i give one to somebody who doesn't know a lot about beer im still gonna say It's like drinking a black IPA. Pretty much any body who likes craft beer knows what an IPA is and if you say "black IPA" you can almost taste whats about to come just by the name. Also, I just don't see any east coast brewers marketing their beer as cascadian for no other reason that most people on the east coast are not familiar with such a term. Does anybody know of an east coast example that markets "cascadian dark ale"?
