It looked pretty slick. He says he never touches the inside of them. PBW gets rid of everything. The weight reduction and pucker factor is much less. I just bought one to fuck around with wine. I might use it on my next beer batch.

I never used a brush on my glass carboys either. Just PBW for 24 hours, dump and rinse. If I'm paying for PBW, it's doing all the work, not me. It always worked great.

BBs are super, super light. I would struggle to carry glass carboy with 5.25 gallons, even with a carboy hauler. With the BB I can easily carry it without any kind of hauler.

When i move it after fermentation, I use aluminum foil and thick rubber band to really seal it while I'm moving it around. No O2 intake.

I just got a BB on sat. and I love them. no more glass for me.

Also just use fermcap if you are worried about that missing 1/2 gallon in BBs.

Do you drop the fermcap right into the BB? Any concern about it not being sanitary?

I do drop about 10drops right in. I don't worry about it. That goes against everything else I do santitation wise, but the description says it can be used in the boil and fermentation. Works like a champ. I've never had any issues, but I usually only break it out if the batch is more than 1060.

In a previous BYO (a couple of years ago I think) there was an article "Pimp my bucket" or something like that modified the lid so that it screws off instead of prying off. I am thinking of trying this, when I find the article, to assist in my dry hopping and yeast harvesting.[/quote]

I'd like to see that. One of my primaries is a plastic bucket with a screw off lid. I just don't screw it down all the way. No air lock. I never use anything to wipe it with when I clean it, due to feazr of scratches. Just soak in PBW then rinse.
