Call-In Etiquette

Mon Feb 22, 2010 12:43 pm

My Fellow Listeners, a few tips for calling in.

There is only 1 phone line.

I have only heard 1 Skype user at a time so far.

During a live show, if your call goes directly to the BN voice mail, most likely someone else is on the phone, either on air or on hold.

When you hear someone else hang up, immediately dial in. I realize this may be a problem for DOTW self nominees.

If at first you do not succeed, dial again. Repeat this.

Skype call in is also possible, if Brewcaster J is inclined to use it, and it works. Turn off the video feature, it sucks bandwidth.

Live guests who are not in studio will be on either skype or the phone.

Please test your Skype or phone capabilities off air, unless you are John Palmer.

When the call screener picks up, say hello, be courteous and state your business. Name/nick and location will be asked if you have a pro call screener. You will be placed on hold. it's silent. Turn down your speakers. Before you hit the air, Brewcaster J usually will bring your line onto the program. Follow along. He will usually recognize the caller at some point. That's you.

State your business and move on unless this is Lunchmeet or the Mix Tape Show, or your name is Bub.

Cheers,
The Fool.

....and when someone (beevo) answer's the phone and puts you one hold....

NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU....even though you can hear them :asshat:

...while totally wasted once, I was screaming into the phone just to find out that i was on hold. I could hear what they were talking about on the session, but they couldn't hear me. It was a waste of rage.
suck it
