I need help from the army! I have a friend visiting South Bend Indiana and is willing to bring me back some beer. What are the best beers from the region that i can ask her to bring back for me?

Bells and 3 Floyds are both about 90 minutes away (though opposite directions). When I was there last weekend, I also saw Great Lakes brewing on tap. I didn't have time to really explore the beer scene though, so there could be more that I missed.

Everything from Great Lakes is ... well, great. I especially like their Dortmunder Gold. If you are looking for something that you can only get in Michiana, look for Back Road Brewery (in LaPorte, closer to Chicago). Their Back Road Ale is a nice amber-ish one to start with.

There is also the Mishawaka Brewing Co. (in Mishawaka) . Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stop in there when I visited SB this summer. So, I can't really vouch for their brews.
