Ok jamil you mentioned in your hefeweisen show do you have a recipe for it everything i find has it being made with no mash involved is this right. I remember a few years ago my dad talking about a guy that used to make it and he really liked it might try my hand at. Might be a free wine in a few weeks might be able to find some spilled wheat on the road from harvest.

From Easy Wine.net:
Homemade Wheat Wine (Traditional Recipe)

3 lbs brown potatoes cut into small pieces (do not peel)
1 lb washed wheat
1 gallon water
2 lbs raisins
4 lbs unrefined sugar
1 ounce yeast

Boil water in large pot. Place all other ingredients, except yeast into large, sterilized glass container. Pour water into container and stir. Cool until room temperature. Add yeast and stir. Cover for two weeks, stirring twice daily.

Strain wine through a finely meshed bag and pour into another glass jar. Close jar loosely. Store in a dark, warm location. Skim any froth that may form. When froth has stopped developing, and no gas bubbles can be seen, fermentation has ceased. Seal jar with a cork. Let wine rest for at least one year, preferably two years before drinking.

I believe that Jamil was talking about Marin Brewing Company's Star Brew WheatWine as the example.

It is the last beer on the page
http://www.marinbrewing.com/pages/beers.htm

From the site..." A big, rich and smooth sherry-like WHEATWINE Style Ale inspired by our friend, Phil Moeller of Rubicon Brewing Co. fame. The beginning specific gravity is 1.097."

Great Stuff!
