Could use a little encouragement from the Army...

Fri Oct 09, 2009 7:23 am

I was diagnosed yesterday with colon cancer. I have a tumor the size of a lemon in my large intestine. I go under the knife Monday morning, and in the meantime I can only sit here and occupy my mind with brewing to keep my spirits up. I'm a little freaked out...I'm only 29 years old! I could use some good words from my brewing brothers and sisters. Anyone with some experience and advice out there?

Try not to think about it too much. Think about that wonderfull brew day saturday and sunday. Maybe a Baltic Porter day?

Sorry to hear that, brotha. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Stay positive. You'll get through this.

That’s rough, man. It’s no fun when our body craps out on us.

For what it’s worth, it seems attitude plays a key role in long term cancer survival. In other words, keep your chin up soldier.

I’ll raise a drink to you tonight.

Ok, not to be a downer, but my mom passed from cancer a little over a year ago. If I could give you one piece of advice, do what your doctors recommend and DO NOT 'take a break' from treatment if they offer you one. My mom appeared to be doing well, and her Dr offered to give her a break from chemo, that was when the cancer took hold and she never responded to any further treatment.

Hopefully they found your cancer early and are able to eradicate it. I wish you the best of luck!

On another note, one of the guys in my vanpool had cancer around 10-15 years ago, spent months in the hospital. He had a check up last week and is cancer free! Many people live long lives after treatment. I honestly hope you are one of them!

Cheers!

Best of luck to you on that dude! My downstairs neighboor had colon cancer and he recovered 100%. They found a honeydew size tumor in his lower intestines. a little bit of chemo and some surgery and he is cancer free. Hopefully it will be even easier being younger and smaller!
Cheers!
