"Not too bad because fracture does not extend into the ankle joint. Worst problem is healing of the tibia fracture--sometimes prone to delayed union or non-union and have to do bone grafting,etc. Also, if open fracture with skin breakthrough, you would have to be concerned about infection. I assume this was a closed fracture, i.e. not having associated skin breakthrough. This fracture would likely be operatively reduced and plated if a closed fracture. You would not want to plate the fracture if open because risk of infection even greater with foreign body material of plate and screws. Probably more than you want to know, so will stop here.
