He has evacuated the area, but does not know the status of his house. Damn fires are going to blacken So Cal. My sister in law is waiting for an evacuation notice. She lives in a San Diego suburb and is just about surrounded by fires. Her boyfriend's work in Rancho Bernardo was affected... but we don't know how bad.

The hell of it is, at least one of the fires was arson (Irvine). Some fucking bastard is running around lighting fires. I hope he roasts in hell!

Aren't most of them arson? That is what I always thought. I never understood people that would poop in their own nest.

Yeah, even a dogs know not to shit where it eats. A few of the fires started due to power lines downed by the high winds. We've had gusts nearing 100mph and sustained winds in the 40mph range. They call this condition Santa Ana winds or devil winds. They come in off the deserts and are very hot and very dry, combine that with the drought conditions in So Cal and you see what happens.

Just got back from flying the entourage of Skeletor (DHS sec. Chertoff) and the Governator for a short flight. We also took some emergency service guys around to scope out the fire.

It don't look too good yet... Had another fire flare up quickly when we were flying around this morning. Seems like the entire SD county is in flames. I took a few pics. None of what you see are water clouds. That is ALL smoke!

How many times have you played Wagner when you fly and said "I love the smell of Napalm in the morning?"
