I would like to comment that high-quality products CAN be made in China with the proper quality control oversight. They have the capability to make just about anything in any degree of quality out there, but if some idiot wants to buy "some cheap-ass flyswatters" to sell in his big-box store, then that's exactly what he gets. If he would have asked for "some high-quality flyswatters", then this post wouldnt' have occured, and you probably would have paid 1.48 for your swatter.

When crap like this breaks, you're only making the problem worse by NOT returning it to the store.

+1 to that, Quality reflects price, sorry for all those looking for sympathy for buy cheap crap, but a lesson has to be taught somehow. Go ahead rant away though, i still enjoy reading others frustrations.

I definitely understand the frustration of new shit breaking, but these guys are right. Never underestimate the power of the consumer. If it's cheaply made and doesn't come with a guarantee don't buy it. If it breaks return it. If it's produced in a place that has turned out questionable product in your experience, chose a different manufacturer. These things speak volumes to middlemen and distributors alike. "Big Box" stores will not stock merchandise that is not purchased. This reminds me of similar arguments like the influence of media on the public and sustainable agriculture and aquaculture. These problems are all so interconnected and all have a similar final solution..IF WE DON'T BUY IT THEY WONT SELL IT! If you demand superior, sustainable, and reliable product that is what you will get. Just don't complain when the cost rises a bit.

Im sure the computer you are using is made in part, in China. Or the Car you are driving. Chinese products are here to stay. IMO, we are moving gently to a nation of product support and services, rather than goods. Which is fine by me, I could care less. If China wants a part of the pizza that is the World Economy - fine, let them in. BUT we have to make them realize that they have to play ball. And who is going to do that? The US. Oh...but then all the hippies and two-faced asses out there will say "oh, leave China alone. It figures the US would have to oppress yet another country. Why does the US have to interfere" blah blah blah. The China thing is all politics man.

Article: Chinese Factory Worker Can't Believe The Shit He Makes For Americans

Quote:
'Oh, I really need this silverware-drawer sorter or I will have fits.' Shut up, stupid American."

Chen added that many of the items break after only a few uses.

I was shocked to see JP being the politically correct one in this thread. Man, those classes must be paying off.
