I have no intention of selling beer, but I do have a pretty big family and most of us are beer drinkers. There are a few teetotalers in the clan but we don't ride them too hard. But we drink a lot of beer around here.

Don't brag about it and you will be ok
200 gal = approx 2000 bottles so you prolly won't even make that much beer a year, unless you get really stuck with the bug.

Roughly 400 5 gal sessions. I think it's doable.

You are already to far gone for help now Mort. You have the Jane hat, BYO subscription and surfing ebay for a kegging system. All that and you haven't even brewed yet, you are a Homebrew lunatic like the rest of us. Its too late to turn back now, if you get your brother on board that ups the volume to 400 gallons per year legally (not that anyone checks on that).

Brother Milt is lurking around on the board. He's interested. As a carpenter and a tinkerer, he's wound up with the idea of setting up the brewhouse.

No one checks unless you sell...
As for internet scams...there are as many and as varied as people. The advice given to you earlier is very sound: do not give info on line, all official companies will not ask for personal data via e-mail. Be especially suspicious of official - looking e-mails requesting personal data, ie. the ones with company logos and such. I recently received one from what looked like eBay requesting an "update" on my accout data.
Might I suggest getting your kegging system from a reputable place like www.morebeer.com or www.northernbrewer.com ?

Cheers,
Brewbear

PS welcome to the madness that will dominate your life, brewing. Enjoy!

Mort, here is Wisconsin's homebrewing law.
http://www.geocities.com/barleypopmaker/law.htm

It may not be for your state, but most (not all) states are pretty close to the same thing. This will just give you a basic idea of what the law would be like in your state. It does not give the amount someone can brew, but I think that is set at the federal level, I could be wrong though.
