I hate liver.

Most of the recipes I found don'e even call for liver (go figure). It's consistency is pretty much like bologna.

Maybe Daniela reads that thread and can chime in ;)

Guys and BOOB...that is awesome that you start a thread about german food without me even pushing you to do so... :)
I have plans for a cooking-beer-german-hearty food kind of thing...will let you know further once I actually know more...

Anyways, I love spaetzle (go figure) in combination with all kinds of heavy hearty meats (e.g. Rouladen, Braten) or with Cheese or Kraut...Boobs recipe sounds GREAT...definitely German approved...

The Leberkaese (libirkesi) has NOTHING to do with liver...it looks kind of funny...but it tastes delicious...It contains beef and pork, some speck (which is from the pork too, it is a really fat part of the pork), water, salt and majoran...all the ingredients are made into a dough, then fried in a pan and put on a roll. Always eat it with MUSTARD!!!
Leberkaese is a very popular lunch snack in Germany, comparable to the popularity of a hot dog here in the states...

If I knew how to post a pix in the message body I would do it...have a nice one of a leberkaese semmel...

I only use eggs, salt and a bit of warm water in my spaetzle. This disscussion has got me drooling. Looks like it's gonna be geschnetzeltes for dinner tonight.

The spaetzle sounds a little like gnocchi. I bet it'd be good with pesto!
