Yep, they're GE Dash 9's. Each of those trains had 240 wagons, one of them was loaded (30,000 metric tonnes). They were lucky to meet at reduced speed (20km/h), normally the loaded would have been travelling at line speed (80km/h or 50mph).

Damage in the order of AU$40M.
