I kicked my mother out of my house after 4 days the only time I invited her to stay for a week. She was not being nice. Kinda felt bad for my step dad because he is OK, but he married her, not me. After that she gets a hotel near by when she visits and all works well. My dad has manners and has stayed here up to a couple of weeks at a time more times than I can count as long as the step mom doesn't come along. Otherwise it is the hotel for them too.

You let in laws live with you for 3 months - that makes me wonder who is the retarded one?

Time to put your foot down BooBoo and be the man of your house.

On the other hand you'll feel the same way when that kid becomes a teenager, so this might be good training.

Is thirty-nine old? If yes, then yes. If not then I have no idea.

i TOTALLY did not invite them for 3 months, nor did i say that they could be here that long, but i love my wife and she really wanted them here.

i kind of did put my foot down. they stayed quite a bit of the time in a hotel. But, they didn't get the point right away. They came at 7am and watched our baby while we went to work (which was fine and what they were here for). They never really left until 9 or 10pm. which meant that they were only sleeping at the hotel....the problem i had with them is that they didn't leave when i got home from work. they said that they were coming to help us but everyday i came home the house was a complete mess. they just sat on the couch watching TV and staring at the baby.

and BC...did i mention that they are jewish? i'm not and therefore don't understand a few customs...like inviting yourself AND OTHERS to someone else's house. My mother-out-law was trying to plan a passover party at my house for next spring! Anyway, they are gone now. :pop :pop :pop :pop :pop And mrs. booboo now knows that if she wants another child, her parents are not going to do this to us again AND that her parents are not envited EVER for more than a 3 day stay.

Hopefully not in the shower.

I had my mother-in-laws boyfriend ( 75 year old boyfriend ) staying with us for a couple months when the wife's mother was in the hospital. They had just sold the house in New England and bought a home in TN. The MIL was at the rehab hospital where my wife worked.

In my case, it was the exact opposite. He is the kind of person who can't stay idle. He was always asking what he could do to help, and driving us nuts when we said "nothing". It all sounds great but it does get on your nerves when your routine is thrown off.

Thankfully he is deaf as a doorknob without his hearing aid, so at night there could still be a lot of :crazybitch: . But being married for 15 years, you don't seem to get a lot of :crazybitch: , just a lot of :horse

To answer the original question, I would take a shower without any shoes and see if your feet itch the next day. No scientific basis behind that, but everytime I have a shared a shower (separately and not at the same time!) with a roommate or house guest that I suspect probably showerbates, my feet itch like crazy (alergic to sperm?). Anyways, BC has the right attitude ... be completely and brutally upfront and honest with your in-laws. It is your house, your wife, your kid, and your life. Granted, they may believe they have your best interests in mind, but let them know they are there as guests and let them know what is acceptable/expected. Just be completely honest and respectful in the process. I've had that battle with my folks early in life (sub-18) and my wife's folks early in our relationship. It might throw them off balance for a bit, but in the end you will be able to grow a mutual respect and appreciation for each other. My wife's folks were both stunned and somewhat grateful for the "foundation" that was set.

Recently, my wifes folks moved down to AZ from Washington and I couldn't be happier with their proximity. They never come by without calling first (as requested), are around to be a part of my kid's life (which is very nice and appreciated), and my wife, child, and I live our lives with the in-laws knowing that our word is final when it comes to raising our child. It is not an easy discussion and you need your wife behind you 100%, but from my experience it is very much worth the slight discomfort of a "ground rules" setting discussion. Not sure if the rant came through clear or not, but just remember that if your feet itch ... someone just jizzed in your shower :pop .

Dude, my feet itch just thinking about that. I would not do that experiment on principle. If I suspected some stray jizz in any shower that I use, I would pour a bottle of clorox on the floor and call it done. Bleach kills everything. It even does wonders for hurt feelings...
