Alright, being in a community HIGHLY effected by this catastrophe I need to lend my rant to this thread:

First,
Steelers&Beer wrote:it's really gonna suck when this slick turns the corner and starts working it's way up the east coast...

WTF, it doesn't REALLY suck when my beautiful wetlands are trashed? It doesn't REALLY suck when my friends and families jobs are in jeopardy? It doesn't REALLY suck when the Gulf of Mexico is flooded with crude and all of our coastal wildlife is fucked?
It's only a problem whenever it gets to the east coast, that seems like a pretty fucked up statement to me, just sayin. :?

Next,
JP wrote:Does it have to be anyones fault? Can't mistakes just .. happen? I really enjoy hearing who people decide to blame when shit like this goes down. "Wah, its BP's fault - they make money from oil" ... "Wah, it's mans fault for using oil" ... wholy shit, the thing just broke. Things break. It happens. And why do you think you have a better solution than BP does, BooBoo? Why do you think they could have stopped it by now? Don't you think they want to? I'm sure they don't like seeing their profit being carried up the East Coast.

Yes JP, it was an accident, something did break, in fact several redundant systems failed. The problem is that somebody knew that there were problems with the blow-out preventor, somebody knew that they should wait to do that casing job, but somebody said to keep going, and not to worry about it. Well somebody lost that dice toss and fucked up royally. Sadly, the poor unfortunate soul following orders who triggered this clusterfuck chain reaction that lead to what we have now was incinerated instantly. Chances are, that dice tossing fuck is still having his afternoon tea.

Next (part 2)
11amas wrote:If they weren't drilling 500 miles off coast and a mile deep they would have had this plugged by now...hmm, who is blocking drilling where it is easy and safer? The oil is getting to the coast anyway no matter it is 500 miles offshore so all we did was prevent an eyesore and make a bigger mess. We need oil until a better fuel can be found and it is the government making BP do the drilling in excessively deep water. I am not saying there isn't fault to be granted all over the place or, as JP puts it, shit happens but all I hear from our lovely media is BP this, BP that. Al Gore flys around in a damn gulfstream and has multiple mansions, one of which is over 30,000sq ft. Admit you are part of the problem or stop pointing fingers is all I want.

Good point 0006 - Glossed over in all of this are the lives lost on the rig on day 0.

If careless mistakes were made by management involved I demand that they are personally held accountable.

I am not talking about some mega fine paid by BP to the US government (or Obama's library or however that shit works in DC) to wash the mistake away, but serious jail time for the people involved if what you say created this mess in the first place is true.

I also hope it is really capped as of tonight as I am told by my brother-in-law and we hope you pass on our prayers to the families of lost in this accident if they are friends of yours.

I know a lot of people in the industry down here, from what I have been told is that there were at least 2 other companies (besides the 3 involved) monitoring the goings on of the deep water horizon. I am pretty sure that they know exactly what set the initial problem off. As far as I know, there were several problems with the safety/backup systems and they never should have proceeded, but the greedy fucks as they are, they did...
This all may come out, but there was a lot of fucked up shit going on.

Thanks BC, my prayers also go out to the families of those 11 who were lost.

put this BP oil mess in the SF bay area and see how JP will think that "it's just a mistake"

put this BP oil mess around Hawaii and see how BC thinks about it.

i love the both of you but really, why won't BP just say publicly that they fucked up and there is nothing they can do to stop this?

I began boycotting BP a few years ago when I lived in Michigan (I've never seen a BP in Montana). I hate those cocksuckers so much that I once ran out of gas pulling into their station, borrowed a gas can and walked a half mile to the next gas station. They've been pressuring the Illinois/Michigan governments for a few years now, trying to increase their 'grey' output into Lake Michigan. Now Michigan is a shit hole, a police state and the home of a lot of really fucked individuals, but they have one thing going for them - the wilderness areas. It's been said you can't be more than a mile or two from a body of water anywhere in the state; from my years of backpacking, I buy it. The fragile dune land, the forests - it can be a beautiful place once you get away from the general population. And those assfucks want to destroy that too. Recent events aren't too surprising to me - I'm well aware of their concern for the environment, or total lack-thereof. I'm not pointing fingers on who's to blame, but I am saying this. BP is run by assfucks and they can suck it. Right after that dirty cunt, Granholm (I heard she gave Drew herpes, just sayin'). If I have to walk 5 miles next time, you can bet your ass I'll do it without a second thought.
