Cold? Only this winter when we got -30. I got to work and had a nice white circle on the end of my nose. I'm used to getting shit from motorists riding my bike but I think those days I got only respect. Carhartts kick ass! And my studded tires help to keep things from getting too interesting. As far as getting cold- when you are the engine you keep warm.
Cycling is tha shiznit, Mort. I can eat and drink whatever the hell I want and I won't get too overweight...plus my total fuel expenditures for the year to date are around $200, and that includes a trip to Utah a couple of weeks ago.
I'm a firm believer in using the right tool for the job, and for me that includes how I get my ass around town. Granted, it's easy for me since I only live 1.5 miles from work. But that's 1.5 miles that I'm benefiting myself and not someone that's planning on blowing up a market or a bus in the middle east.

But that's me. Your mileage may vary.
Start riding. Then next year you can come to Moab with us.

BTW, that IS a Harpoon IPA jersey...one of my all time favorite beers. ahhhhhhh.....

Me, I just walk. Pop a book on tape into the tape player (remember that old tech?), strap on the old Rubber Personnel Carriers and set out. I can walk every street in my neighborhood in about 1 hour if I keep up the pace. It works winter or summer and doesn't take any expensive equipment or memberships or scheduling.

I also fish from a canoe. A good windy day and I get the upper body workout of a lifetime. But fishing always seems to make me really thirsty, and out comes the homebrew, kind of defeating the purpose.

Yeah, I like walking too. As of late I've been taking a stroll downtown for my lunch break, listening to the faux-pod, grabbing a cup of tea, walking to a park, whatever.

I wish I could ride my bike but it would hard, not impossible, to do that when you have to take kids to daycare and pick them up.

I never really thought about a bicycle before. Of course I never really thought about exercise either. Since I live a few miles from pavement I suppose I should consider an off road machine? I cannot see me on one of those skinny tire bikes anyway. What should I look for? Are the bikes at WalMart any good? I see they have Schwinns so I am guessing they must have OK stuff. Why am I asking a bunch of drunks? Maybe I should be finding a bicycling forum? I do not know.

Hey this exercising is paying off. Now that I am getting ready for field work again I feel more energetic and am getting more done. The Mrs is happier with me too.

Whatever you do just resist the urge to buy the lycra bike pants... I don't think the world needs to see that.

I do not understand why you would not want to see me in those skimpy bike shorts! Why do you think I need to get in shape? I am not much prettier in a rassling singlet!

Me and the Mrs were talking and we might both get bikes. There are lots of really good places where we could go riding. Anybody want to guide me in the direction of a good bike forum? There are so many and some of them seem to be full of not very nice people. The ones I read seemed to be mostly youngsters and not very respectful. I was not impressed.
