Does it have to be anyones fault? Can't mistakes just .. happen? I really enjoy hearing who people decide to blame when shit like this goes down. "Wah, its BP's fault - they make money from oil" ... "Wah, it's mans fault for using oil" ... wholy shit, the thing just broke. Things break. It happens. And why do you think you have a better solution than BP does, BooBoo? Why do you think they could have stopped it by now? Don't you think they want to? I'm sure they don't like seeing their profit being carried up the East Coast.

it takes months.....it took months to drill that well. If it was permanently closed, then they'd lose all their work. It just seems like all their "fixes" are because they want to pump oil from that well in the future. maybe BP just keeps on coming up with stupid ideas to close it and they all fail terribly because they are fucking morons. maybe I wouldn't give a shit if i didn't like oysters....but i fucking love oysters.

This whole thing was a big mistake. It was a mistake that BP purchased the cheapest possible blow out prevent device possible. Why was BP been blocking the media from covering the oil spill and the only camera shooting was owned by BP?

try this: call up the local DEC or EPA and then dump a single quart of oil in the ground and see what happens
suck it

If they weren't drilling 500 miles off coast and a mile deep they would have had this plugged by now...hmm, who is blocking drilling where it is easy and safer? The oil is getting to the coast anyway no matter it is 500 miles offshore so all we did was prevent an eyesore and make a bigger mess. We need oil until a better fuel can be found and it is the government making BP do the drilling in excessively deep water. I am not saying there isn't fault to be granted all over the place or, as JP puts it, shit happens but all I hear from our lovely media is BP this, BP that. Al Gore flys around in a damn gulfstream and has multiple mansions, one of which is over 30,000sq ft. Admit you are part of the problem or stop pointing fingers is all I want.

What pisses me off about this whole thing this (beside the obvious environmental disaster) is that if there is a disaster in some third world shit hole country where the people are still living in mud huts, every asshole celebrity is on TV with their hand out guilting you to give aide so we can rebuild their shit hole country to our standards. What the fuck! Think about how many people are affected by a disaster in OUR COUNTRY! Where is fat ass Oprah raising money to help the thousands of fisherman, where is Springsteen with his fund raising concerts for people within our borders who could really use it! Goes to show ya who these ultra rich celebrities care about..their image! :asshat:

Maybe Sean Penn doesn't want to get his boat dirty this time around?

I remember he forgot to install his bilge drain plug after Katrina and almost sunk his boat full of photographers.

I'm with JP on this - shit happens. Fix it and move on.

But it's pretty minor to the Kuwaiti oil Saddam's troops dumped in the Persian Gulf and the hundreds of wells they ignited on fire as they scampered out of Kuwait and ran back to Iraq in the early 1990's. This current leak is not good, but it is pretty minor compared what happened in Kuwait or the amount of toxic material that has been spewing into the ocean and gas into the air one island over from me over the past 20 years from the active volcano. Mother Earth heals itself from these minor events all the time.

Brother-in-law is onsite and word it that they think the well has now been successfully capped late today (an hour ago).
Only time will tell if that is true and if it holds.
p.s. He works for the Feds and was only mobilized last week (day 40).
He was at the airport about 500 feet away from Obama's plane today.
