Does this sound legitimate

I am very new to this whole internet thing and just got my first e mail address about a month ago. This morning I got an e mail from a foreign guy and he said he got my name and address from a mutual friend. Right away I'm suspicious because I have only sent e mail to my brother Milt and his boy Tim. I don't want to give away too much in case it's on the up and up but this guy claims to be heir to several million dollars in American money. He needs help getting the money out of his country to America and wants me to help him do it for a share in the money. It sounds too good to be true to me. I'm going to ask my brother if he knows anything about this person, because he is the only one that could have given this person my e mail address. I think this thing stinks, for some reason. I have not answered the person back and I do not think I will. I was just curious what you thought. How could he get my e mail address?

Just so you know I answered my own question. Brother Milt did anyway. He told me it's some kind of nigerian scam or something and is pretty common. Has anybody else heard about this? I guess the Mrs is part right that there are a lot of internet weirdos out there. I still wonder how this person got my e mail?

Hey Mort,

Good thing you didn't respond. It's a modern day Snake Oil Salesman. They don't have your address specifically. They send the same message to thousands of people at a time, hoping someone will respond.

The easiest thing to do is to NEVER respond to e-mail from anyone you do not know and have not e-mailed to begin with. Just delete it. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Never give any infomation over the internet you would not give a total stranger you just met unless you are on a website buying something. For example if you get an email asking for you address, SSN, Credit information, Bank Information. It is a scam. No legitement company will email to get that information. If you go to an online store to buy something and they have problems. They will call you or send you an email to call them directly. If you didn't buy anything online and someone calls you saying that they need info for your purchase. It is a scam.

That is what my brother told me. I was asking him about setting up an ebay account and he said I better not until I have a little more experience. He has an account, so he will do my bidding for now. I have my eye on a kegging setup and I have not brewed my first batch. I am starting to think this is a disease, this homebrewing thing. While talking to my brother about it I think he is interested. The first thing he asked me "is it legal?"

So, between the Mrs. and I, we can legally brew 200 gallons a year? How do they know how much you have brewed? Does somebody keep track? How could they?

Today I subscribed to Brew Your Own magazine.

Help me.

If I remember right, the federal law is 200 gal/person, 300 max household with 2 or more people over 21yo. Each state can make their own changes though.

Realistically, as long as you're not selling (bootlegging), no one will know. It's not like the beer last long enough to build up much. :D

I think it's 100 gallons in a single-adult household, 200 gallons in a multiple-adult household.

But, no one keeps track and no one will notice -- unless you start to sell the stuff on eBay. 8)

200gal No one keeps track. Just don't sell it. You can give it away all you want, but as soon as you sell it you break a ton of laws.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.
