Europe has some called formula 1 hotels (or they used to be called that), very cheap but clean only two in England I think.
Used to stay in one every so often, the bathroom and shower cubicles (separate) were shared. As soon as you come out of either the door locks again and they self clean for the next person.
Often thought about, in my student days opening and shutting the door without leaving, to see if I could see what happens
