Hopefully, he'll get the job and be on the completely opposite shift from you and you won't have to see him until you throw his butt out of your house!

Good Luck!

Your brother sounds a lot like my brother-in-law. I can't stand him. He's milked my in-laws for a shit load of money and they haven't given my wife hardly anything. He's an idiot, but can do no wrong in his folks eyes.

I think it was awesome you put a roof over his head and a gave him a chance at a new start. Hopefully he will get the job, go to work 40-50 hours a week, learn to understand what you go through to support him and give you and your house some more respect.

When he starts working charge him rent.
Mother's in the kitchen washing out the jugs,
Sister's in the pantry bottling the suds,
Father's in the cellar mixing up the hops,
Johnny's on the front porch watching for the cops.

DON"T DO THAT!!!!

You can easily get screwed over with live-in renters based on the laws in Kansas, even to the point that if you violate a minor detail he could sue and get your house. This of course is based on you owning the place you live in. But could also apply to the residence you are renting, as in him being able to stay and your family having to move out.

If you let him stay there, draw up a contract that he pays a reasonable fee for the utilities/food (gas, electric, phone, cable, food, etc) and never in the contract mention the words "rent, lease, sublease, etc". Have a clause that if he violates the contract he is to find "his own personal residence" within a set amount of time (30 days.) Sign it in the presence of a notary.
