Laptop (dial-up problem) is a PITA

Sat Feb 24, 2007 1:38 pm

I have this problem recently, I have been bucked down to using dial-up and last Sunday (conveiniently at 4:50pm) my browser (IE and Mozilla) stopped recognizing the dial-up connection. I thought it may be the modem but both the PC card and internal modem are fine. With my wireless card things are fine, but when I am at home (Boonville) I can not access the internet with wireless, only dial-up :( .

All possible ideas/advice is welcome. I am in Eureka until noon tomorrow on my DSL connection (if I need to DL something).

Thanks for your help,

HH

What is "wireless only dial-up"?

Regarding IE/Mozilla not recognizing the dial-up, there are several networking layers in between the modem and the browser, and besides the obvious speed difference, the browser has no clue how you are connected.

Do you have a dial-up ISP?

I know some pcs can get there wires crossed (hehe)
When you swap between different connections
Something to do with Microsoft!

It could when you have got back to your dial up location, its still looking at the wireless connection.
PCs are stupid like that.

Incoming MAC abuse. Take cover.
