Ya so I got a new bitchin' job, living in a remote and awesome place, and no fiber optics out here yet so no DSL anymore either. :x :P :(

Dial up sucks even without Pants!

Is there no way to do a satellite broadband link?
We used to have one at work here in the UK.
The modem did the requests and the info was sent down the satellite link.
Was nice and fast similar to a 1meg broadband and that was about 5 years ago.

Might be a way to go
The joys of the country, with the broadband of the city!

Direct TV does offer the satelite thing. It is pretty pricey though. If I remember right it was about 80 a month or so. The equipment isn't too bad if you really want to go this route. Just a suggestion.

Dial up sucks. Have you checked with Verzion Wireless they offer Broadband http://solutions.vzwshop.com/bba/default.htm I am not sure if it is available in Anderson Valley, but it might be a nice option.

Ha haa! I'm happy because I'm finally able to get DSL without phone service. WHen I lived in OC (NY, the REAL orange county) I was an hour from NYC but the phone infrastructure was so old DSL just wasn't offered to a lot of older homes. Shit, they just got 911 service about 10 years ago!

I feel your pain, but I'm not feeling anything else of yours.
