what up massholes?

Tue Sep 21, 2010 3:42 am

I'm comin to boston! Just wondering if some locals can help me out. What's good, where the bars at? What beer related stuff should i check out in the city. I'm from Ontario, and i'm lookin to get hooked up with some of the american beers we don't get in Canada (so basically anything)

Likewise if anyone wants to meetup for some drinks shoot me a PM.

Try the Sunset Grill in Alston. Great selection of domestic breweries on tap. Deep Ellum is not far if you are looking for some more esoteric selections.
The time is near the mission clear,
Its later than you think, before you slip
into the night you'll want something to drink.

Not from personal experience, but these are names that come up frequently when this question is asked:

Cambridge

http://lordhobo.com/

Brookline:
Publik House, American Craft, Publik House Provisions

Allston/Brighton:

Just about everything is accessible in Boston on the T.

thanks again good sir.

Looks like we made our itinerary and it should be a great time with some of your input.

couple further questions, since this is my first time really exploring the states. I'm looking for a good beer store where we can buy some of those great beers I keep hearing about on the BN. In Ontario the liquor stores are all owned by the government and they decide what we carry. That means good ontario selection, very little US craft stuff. I'm looking into it but id love to find some 21A or gordon beirch, dogfish, stone, basically anything interesting and fun.

also we're going to conneiticut (spelling?) cause one person with us wantsto see yale. anywhere we should check out there? breweries, good beer bars, interesting bits of americana?

thanks again for all your help!

On your way way to Connecticut, stop at Julio's in Westboro, MA ( not too far off the Mass Pike ) http://www.juliosliquors.com. Definitely one of the best selections in Massachusetts and New England.

Not too far off I-84 in CT is the Willimantic Brewing Company http://www.willibrew.com/.

So thanks again everyone.

Due to your help I know officially had my first Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada Pale, Racer 5, 21A brews, Dogfish 90, Harpoon IPA, Sam Adams Oktoberfest and many many more that are blurry and probably awesome. Saving the Stone and rogue bombers I bought for a special occasion. Had a killer time in Boston. Sadly was too tired/hungover to do anything but drive my ass back to Canada after Connecticut so no Willimantic but I'll def be going back. I will be the first to say that while Canada has a great brooding craft beer scene, you Americans are way farther along then us. Well done sirs and madams
