forum looks awful

Mon Oct 25, 2010 5:12 pm

hey dudes. I guess something changed a few weeks ago (been out of town), but the forum pages all look terrible. Huge font, most of the expected options missing etc. On forms, like this one where I'm posting a new topic, the field labels are messed up. I can't search to see if there have been answers already, cause I can't find a search link, and I can only see one page of messages. I looked for a settings page, but that don't show up either!
I haven't changed anything that I can recall on my PC, and all other web pages I'm familiar with are showing up fine. I'm on IE8. any hints?

Are you using "The BN" as My board style: in the user control panel under board preferences?

Not sure what the issue is but mine looks just fine.

If that doesn't help I'm sure Code will be along soon to help.

Yeah, it's weird. At first I thought maybe Code was makin a change and hadn't worked it all out yet. I can't find any settings or preferences, but I think that's because almost all the links are missing. This reply page, for instance, has the "Subject" sitting on top of the field box. Then just a big box and a submit button. absolutely nothing else. I guess I'm lucky I can at least post to try to work this out!

it's probably the mobile browser feature causing problems.

If you're on something other than a mobile device, you can go to User Control Panel and then click Profile in the left hand frame. at the bottom of the page there should be an option to select the mobile browser option.

Try clicking the opposite of whatever's clicked now and see if that helps.

I've looked at it and your mobile support is now disabled. Odd that IE8 would be configured to present itself as a mobile device, but please let me know what it looks like now. Realize that you may need to clear your cache to see the change.

If that doesn't do the trick I'd love to know what it looks like from a different browser or maybe a browser from a different location (not your computer).

Sorry for the trouble,
code

Which is why I don't use IE. I mean, i have to click a button to allow it download stuff from microsoft.com. You would think that would be a trusted site. :comp

Well, still no luck with IE8, even after clearing the cache, so I got me Firefox and all is well. (Shoulda thought of trying that before!)
So...since I seem to be an isolated case (in more ways than one), I can happily live with using Firefox for my BN business.

Thanks all.
