My Dad is a Marine Vietnam Vet and Grandpa was in the National Gaurd. My wife joined the air force after 2 years of getting things to line up. She is not originally from the USA so getting college credits and many other types of pertinent info straight took some time. But now after getting her approval she is at Basic Training in Lackland AFB Texas. She is on her way to get her "War Hawk" award, which in Basic you can pass the physical section with what is required(minimum), with honors (Thunderbolt), or high honors(War Hawk) So the physical side she has no problem. But the breaking down/building up is pretty hard for her, as it is for most people. She mentioned in her last phone call that she would like to get more letters. Since her family is probably not going to be sending many letters and I am already sending something everyday I wanted to reach out to the fellow homebrewers for some support.
If it wasn't for her there would probably be one less homebrewer in the ranks. She has helped me, put up with & improved my homebrewing over the past 2+ years. I've come from Mr. Beer Kits to Stove-top extract to All-Grain. As I said she helped with my transition all along the way. And I wish I could do more to help her with her transition. This is my best attempt so I hope there are some fellow homebrewers out there that can relate with her hardships. If you have some homebrewing pics or greeting cards sitting around doing nothing, maybe write some words of encouragement on them and send them to her letting her know her hubby was thinking of her

I work in the mountains and listen to BN during my long drives, I used to tell her about the funny stuff going on with the archives over dinner. I miss sharing that....Don't mean to be a downer but would seriously appreciate the kindness. If you guys/girls understand what this homebrewing family going through please send a message to me and I will pass on her address at Lackland. Thanks Home Brew Crew, Kevin
