PM's stuck in the Outbox

I have recently sent two private messages but neither of them were actually sent. They are both in the "outbox" and are not listed in "sent items." Anyone have an idea what's up here?

Maybe it's too early and I've clicked the wrong button or something. Any help appreciated

They sit in the outbox until they are read by the recipient, at which point they move to the sent folder. This is a Feature.
